Assessing Moisture Content and Its Mitigating Effect in an Urban Area Using the Land Surface Temperature–Vegetation Index Triangle Method

چکیده
Nowadays, climate change and heat extremes are becoming highly challenging problems in many cities across the globe. One of solutions to overcome this problem is use vegetation, and, particular, extending range overgrown areas, which sometimes referred as “urban green areas.” In paper, moisture condition its mitigating effect on Land Surface Temperature urban areas were examined Warsaw, Poland, using satellite data. To do so, so-called “Triangle Method” was employed. The triangle method based a Temperature–Normalized Difference Vegetation Index (LST-NDVI) scatterplot calculate Dryness (TVDI) modification–quadratic (qTVDI). This article discusses, detail, usefulness for analyses built-up areas. drought indices TVDI qTVDI compared with those LST, NDVI, NDBI (Normalized Building Index). study shows that LST-NDVI analysis promising tool establishing conditions over studying vegetation impact islands. Detailed an area, better agreement LST than classic TVDI.

Makassar is one of the metropolitan cities located in Indonesia which recently experiences massive an increased construction because of population growth. Mapping the spatial distribution and development of the built-up region is the best method that can use as an indicator to set the urban planning policy. The purpose of this study is to identify changes in land use and density in Makassar Cit...
متن کاملAn Overview of the “Triangle Method” for Estimating Surface Evapotranspiration and Soil Moisture from Satellite Imagery
An overview of the ‘triangle’ method for estimating soil surface wetness and evapotranspiration fraction from satellite imagery is presented here. The method is insensitive to initial atmospheric and surface conditions, net radiation and atmospheric correction, yet can yield accuracies comparable to other methods. We describe the method first from the standpoint of the how the triangle is obser...
متن کاملAssessing Urban Land Use Changes Using ASSA Model
Urban watersheds have been a centerpiece among communities over the last few decades. Every growing urban watershed requires a system designed to store rainwater (runoff). Hence, estimating the amount of runoff and runoff generation percentage of different parts in an urban catchment system is substantial. Therefore, this was set as the cornerstone for assessing the hydrological response of dif...
متن کاملDetermination of Soil Moisture Content at Bukit Bunuh Meteorite Impacted Area using Resistivity Method and Laboratory Test
Determination of soil moisture content is of vital importance to many fields of study; civil engineering, hydrology, agriculture, geology, ecology and forestry. The occurrence of impact crater in Bukit Bunuh, a meteorite impacted area, made it an area of great interest to many researchers. In view of the process of impact cratering, the subsurface soil characteristics such as moisture content o...
